About

As the title indicates, this blog is going to serve as an archive of information relating to the classic TV series “Newhart,” which ran on CBS from 1982 to 1990.  I am currently working on an Episode Guide, and I’m also uploading some old print interviews with the cast.

HELP GET *ALL* OF “NEWHART” RELEASED ON DVD!!
* The first season of “Newhart” was released on DVD in in 2007. The remaining seasons have yet to be released.

* Shout! Factory has a pretty good reputation for picking up old TV shows and releasing them on DVD. Click here to find a thread on the Shout! message board where you can post your request (Shout! employees do monitor the boards).

* You can also show your support for a release by buying the Season 1 DVDs. The people in charge need to see that there’s a fanbase willing to pay money for these DVDs.

* If you have any suggestions about ways we can get more “Newhart” on DVD, please comment below! I would love to add your suggestions to this page.

SOURCES FOR EPISODES
* For Season 1, I use the official Season 1 DVDs.

* For Seasons 2-8, I use recordings off of WGN America and The Comedy Network.

NEWS ARTICLES
* Any news articles and cast interviews posted on this blog come from Googling (specifically Google’s News Archive, which required in many instances that I type the articles up myself from the scans provided by Google) or from academic databases such as ProQuest.

EPISODE GALLERIES
* Each episode page will contain a number of screencaps taken from the episode itself. Due to limited space and time, not EVERY moment from the episode will get its own screencap.

* Please feel free to take and use any of the screencaps for your own purposes.

EPISODE QUOTES
* I’ve typed up all quotes myself. I’ve made an effort not to include every single funny bit of dialogue from every single episode–that would have been very time-consuming!

* Please feel free to use the quotes elsewhere (though if you are planning on using many of them, I would appreciate a link back to the blog).
